Walk into the house (that was once a gentleman’s residence), the blend between modern and traditional is apparent: the tiled floors in the hall, the original stained glass windows on the landing and the staircase boasting fresh flowers. The overall feeling of this boutique bed and breakfast is one of tranquillity which many guests comment on.
1 Park Road plays its part in trying to tackle environmental issues through recycling, using energy in an efficient manner and sourcing produce from local suppliers to reduce air miles.

Music, humour and conversation are important to Philip and Mary. You'll hear a range of musical styles often playing in the lounge, which boasts a grand piano available for guests to play. Philip and Mary also enjoy the regular banter with their guests!
You can sit in the lounge to read your newspaper or choose a CD from our wide selection, whilst drinking a glass of wine or continental beer from our extensive collection. Recently refurbished, all the bedrooms are bright and spacious, each designed with individual taste. Modern French and Art Nouveux pictures adorn the walls, whilst cafetieres of fresh coffee and milk and a variety of teas are available in each bedroom. DVD, CD players and Ipod docking stations are standard in each room as well as full en-suite facilities. We've even installed wireless broadband, so you can check your emails and access the internet, all free of charge.

The family room has two single beds and a travelling cot as well as books, crayons and pencils from the Keswick Pencil Puzzles factory.

Food is locally sourced for breakfast and dinner, which is served at weekends and occasionally during the week. As well as our freshly cooked English breakfast using award winning sausages and free range eggs (cooked exactly to your liking), there is a comprehensive range of other breakfast favourites: fresh fruit, yoghurts, smoothies and specialties such as Omelette Arnold Bennett and kippers. Evening meals are wholesome with menus changing each week, with a wide choice for vegetarians and people with special diets, such as gluten free dishes.
